Jo Stromgren: The Orchestra (Norway)
TUESDAY 24.7. at 7.30 Inmet-arena. (Ticket 15 e)

The remains of a popular music orchestra are suffering from a serious hangover somewhere deep in the Finnish woods. The lead singer has left for a solo career in the big city and all they can do is wait and hope for her return. But never-ending trains keep passing, each time sounding hollower. Money has run out, bottles are empty, and no ropes are to be found .Music has died and life in silence is no life at all. But then one train suddenly stops…

Hitting rock bottom is a major turning point for most people who experience it and essential values are often rediscovered in the miserable dirt. The performance aims to illustrate such a moment. Finland is an obvious choice of setting since this country is famous for its existential hangover tradition.

The research on nonsensical languages has for long been the company trademark. This time it presents a pseudo-authentic and abstract version of Finnish, melted together in the well-known hybrid of dance, theatre and live music. Welcome!!!

The performance and visit has been supported by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finsk-Norsk Kulturinstitutt. Norwegian Embassy, Arts Council Norway and Bergen City Council.
